Hello All,
I just looked thru couple pages on this forum to see if there is already a thread on this question but didn't quite get to see it.
I got into the I-485 queue during July-07 VB fiasco. My applications reached USCIS before the Aug-07 fee revision, so I paid fees according to the old schedule.
However, I did apply for extension last year in March-2009 and paid the new fee ($305), got the documents and even travelled last year and came back into US using the AP.
Now it's time for renewal again, and I'm wondering if I'll have to pay the fee perennially annually?
Thanks
Raghu
P.S: In the I-131 instructions, on page 8, there is a note regarding fee which talks about no fee if I-485 was filed after July 31, 2007. Mine was filed after July 31st, but with the old fee structure.

Have you ever been refused access to the room where your client was being interviewed by USCIS? Have you ever been told that you are not allowed to speak while ICE questioned your client? Has CBP ever refused to allow your client to call you during a complicated secondary inspection?

Hello,
I am a canadian of Indian Origin.I was granted US Immigrant visa under the EB3 category at the Montreal US consulate in 2004.At that time I could not take my family for the interview and we chose to take their Visa later.after 5 years now we have decided to move to US (I am on commuters GC now) and has been trying for an appointment for my family at the consulate in Montreal. The consulate has informed me couple months back that there is no visa number available and my priority date is also not current (our priority date is Mar 2002).Is there any way out of this as I read now that the priority date is stuck in 2001 for a few years now and there is no real chance of moving ahead any time soon.I realise now that maybe we should all have taken the visa at that time instead of just me.Now I am stuck , is there no special case for my type of case as I had already been granted Visa earlier or since My case was already approved in 2004? I will appreciate any help or advise.
Thank You
CanadianAmerican.

Hi, I was in India when my husband applied for my H1B in 2008. I got it picked in lottery and got the approval too. I came to US on H4. After Oct 1st 2008, we applied for Change of Status to H4 to legally complete the work permit process. In the Change of Status applicatin form, my company accidently did a mistake of mentioning that Current status=H1B, New status required=H1B. USICIS, on seeing the application, took a decision to give me H4 with new I-94. I tried calling the USCIS helpdesk, but in vain.
1) Now what should I do to start working in H1B?
2) Was I correct in ging throughChange of Status? Or could I start working with the approval copy I had?
3) Could I apply for SSN with the 2008 approval copy?
Any answers would be greatly apprrciated!. Thanks in advance........

I heard from my collegue that if your company is doing Lay Off's, then your 485 processing stops automatically.
is that true? can anybody confirm it.
My PD is Aug 2005, I40 Approved and 485 was filed in Set 2005.
Thanks

Filed I 485 mid June. I'm in the same boat as you, did not get receipt date. I hope they do not send the application back... I was wondering if the July bulletin affects those who filed I 485 in June.

Hi,
I am an Indian national holding an Indian passport. I am working in UAE. Please suggest would it be a good idea to get H1B stamped in UAE or in India?
Also please share your experience with H1B interview in UAE.

As long as your company is generating Paystubs you are not outofstatus. but if there is an audit and if INS finds that you have not paid then its will be an problem.

Mexican-born Tucson, Arizona police officer could easily keep a low profile on SB 1070. He's a naturalized citizen and could just keep his mouth shut regarding his concerns over the bill. Instead, Officer Escobar is the plaintiff in the first lawsuit challenging the new Arizona law. According to the Arizona Daily Star: But in the wake of the April 23 signing of SB 1070, which forces police officers in Arizona to question suspects' citizenship if they have 'reasonable suspicion' that person may be in this country illegally, Escobar emerged as an unlikely hero to the law's opponents - and has...

Am currently in my 7th year H1 and have got admission into a parttime MBA program!
1.) I just wanted to clarify if i can accept scholarship in form of tution waivers? (not a income?)
2.) I am aware i cannot accept any scholarships which may require me working as a TA or RA? as this is a income...
but is a non-income school sponsored tution waiver an accepectable option>
Any gurus on this board like to throw some light on this!!!
