I have an Andvance Parole valid till Feb'10 end. However right now am in India and wish to stay back even after the AP expiry. In this scenario is it good to apply for renewal AP from India or is it advisable to return back to US and then apply for AP?
Does any one provide how much time it takes for the renewal if I apply for AP from India. Do I need to give the India address for delivery? I have some one in US who can recieve the AP by mail and can send it by post to India. Is this an advisable?

My I-140 & I-485 applications had been transferred to VSC for receipting and later my I-485 was transferred back to TSC. But my I-40 has been pending at VSC for close to 6 months with no signs of any processing. VSC seems to be still processing Apr 06 applications while TSC has been processing I-140 under 6 months. Realistically my application should have stayed at TSC, but was transferred to VSC due to receipting delays and balance the workload. But now my application is stuck at VSC. For no fault of mine, my applications ended up in VSC. There is no signs of PP starting anytime soon. Can I lodge a complain to ombudsman in this regard? Will they be able to help me? Who do I contact and where can I find all the information to lodge a complaint?

I've attended hundreds of meetings of immigration lawyers in my career. Many of them have exhibited characteristics of 12-step groups in which we formed circles of victimhood, and "admitted that we were powerless over [INS, USCIS, DOL, State, etc.]and that our lives had become unmanageable." My Receipt date for 485 is july 27th 2007 and nebraska is processing applications for this date.
I applied for cross chargeability on 10th March.. Any idea how long before my case is approved? My lawyer has confirmed that its possible and he claims that it should take 4-8 weeks. I wanted to check to see what the experience of people has been so far?

I've often blogged about high profile individuals denied entry to the US - reporters, movie stars, scientists coming for conferences, etc. But it's not so easy to cover the everyday humiliations faced by would be tourists at consulates around the world and airports throughout the US. Only during I 140 USCIS will ask for Exp letter whatever you showed in PERM. I think your previous exp should be related to your new job role.

As suggested by pappu/starsun, this supporting thread provides impacted members with additional information and tools to help the initiative.

As pappu stated in the first post of the above referenced thread - some of the ongoing efforts include finding how many IV members would get benefit from such a provision and get basic details such as username/Priority Date of impacted members. Future action items might include drafting documents and letters to support this provision. There maybe actions such as sending emails etc. However we would not be able to open a public action item unless we can have thousands of our members willing to participate in a grassroots action item. This survey intends to understand the needs of our membership for this provision and collect grassroots information.
The fact is we have a dedicated group of volunteers (and we need more) who have been trying their best to spread the message about this initiative so that a strong grass-roots support can be created leading up to launch of the public action items. So far we have around 1100 people who have responded. Based on quick calculations carried out using PERM data, it is estimated that there are at least 60K-70K EB applicants waiting to file I-485/EAD/AP (this is a very conservative estimate..the actual number could be much more). Grass-roots initiatives require time and patience and we request maximum number of impacted folks to participate actively.

I am currently attending a college here in China. However, I have been offered some interesting jobs . These jobs require that I have a resident visa. I have been told that I can't change from a student visa to a resident visa, while in mainland China. Is this accurate? If so, is Hong Kong an option for me?

PERM takes from 2 weeks and upward. Mine took 9 months. Why? nobody knows. My friend's first PERM (eb3) took 6 months. Second (eb2) took 2 weeks.
You can file for I-140 (+ I-485) only after LC approval and if your date is current (for your country and your category).
