I am Canadian Citizen, born in India. My Father, USA Citizen filed I-130 for married son during FEB-2003 and approved. I am here in USA since 2006 working on TN, current status will expire in JAN-2013. Waiting for PD to current for my F-3 (Family), this month PD is 01JAN01.
Questions,
1. I can see now PD is moving fast, any idea, how long it will continue this trend? Since all know huge backlog making impossible to assess anything.
2. What next? filing I-485? and I-846 support letter? anything else?
3. How long this procedure will take in typical case?
4. While applying for Citizenship, did my legal authorized stay in USA count? or zero counter begins?
5. How do I get work authorization for my son in University? or for my wife, now stay home? Available any alternates?

I filed 485 last july and want to file EAD now. I had FP done last year. If I do efiling for EAD will I have to go to ASC for photos. I saw in other posts that they have linked Biometrics but what abt the photos ?

eFiling EAD will result in ASC appointment for code 2 biometics (Finger Printing of right Index finger + photo). You need to take the appointment letter and one form of photo id (passport or drivers id).
I had my ASC apt. for eFiled EAD last week (Feb. 12th).

I dont think I would trust your friend's cousin on that based on what I have read on here and other places. PD of aug-05 and EB3-I, I have my doubts, but if it is true, I am happy for him.

I have no LUD at all for my 1-140 which was approved 6 months back. The status message still stays "...processing..." !!
So do not bother much about the online statuses and LUDs.

New numbers are out on H-1B usage and the past week showed a substantial pickup in usage with more than 1700 numbers counted against the cap of 65,000. 36,600 H-1Bs have been counted now. California taxpayers need to cover higher fees of private lawyers, who are hired by the state as the Attorney General's Office doesn't have the staff to handle all of the cases internally. In some instances, the state has employed outside counsel at hourly rates that reach $450 even while most of its in-house lawyers earn less than half that. Rates can be much higher, if the suits require private attorneys having a particular expertise.
Since January 2008, the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation has signed about $24 million in contracts with private lawyers hired because the Attorney General's Office says it's too shorthanded to take the jobs. The corrections department is seeking the additional help despite having about 80 lawyers of its own to handle a gamut of cases, with about a dozen of those assigned to prisoner-filed litigation.

Looking for advice on my case -
We (I and my wife) filed for 485/EAD/AP on July 27 2007. We received all documents (receipt#, AP, FP etc) except EAD for my wife. The case status online shows her EAD application was received and pending. So on Jan 24th we put a Service Request for her EAD application. Yesterday we received a letter from USCIS with the following information --
The status ofthis service request is:
WAC-XX-XXX-XXXXX
Your 1-765 application was administratively closed on 0112912008.
If you have any further questions, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.
If anyone has similar experience or know why they would close a case without giving any information or RFE/NOID etc? I tried calling them but the IO couldn't provide any further info.

I think people who haven't applied for their green card until now won't ever be able to do so....DOL won't ever make PERM certifications easier.
